Executive Summary
The Paraíba State Research Support Foundation (FAPESQ-PB), the State Secretariat for Science, Technology, Innovation and Higher Education (SECTIES-PB), the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), and the National Council of State Foundations for Research Support (CONFAP) hereby announce the Call for Proposals for the Program to Support the Retention of PhDs in Paraíba (PROFIX-PB). The program aims to encourage the retention of PhDs in strategic areas of science, technology, and innovation in the states and the Federal District, strengthening regional scientific, technological, and innovation capacity. The Program to Support the Retention of PhDs in the state of Paraíba aims to support research projects and strengthen strategic actions to attract and retain PhD researchers in the state, aiming to contribute significantly to scientific and technological development and innovation in the country, in various areas of knowledge.
The CIQUANTA-PB Project aims to implement and consolidate a strategic centre for quantum computing and communication in the state of Paraíba, as a decentralised hub of IBQuântica, intended to strengthen the national research and innovation infrastructure, internalise critical quantum technologies, train and retain highly qualified human resources, stimulate autonomous technological development, and expand Brazil’s insertion in the global scientific and technological frontier.
We are looking for motivated researchers with a PhD in physics, computer science, engineering, or maths, and a strong background in Quantum Information, Quantum Computation, Quantum Technologies, and related sub-fields.
Each postdoctoral grant comprises a competitive salary for up to 48 months and the possibility to supervise a PhD and a Master’s project within the scope of CIQUANTA’s activities. There is also funding for travel and equipment.
