Postdoctoral Recruitment in Quantum Information Science at Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences (IIIS), Tsinghua University
Position Description
We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to join Prof. Xiongfeng Ma’s group at IIIS, Tsinghua University, to conduct cutting-edge research in quantum information science. The initial appointment is for two years, with the possibility of extension based on performance. The expected starting date is flexible, targeting around 2026.
About the Supervisor & Group
Prof. Xiongfeng Ma is a Professor at the Center for Quantum Information (CQI) within IIIS. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and a recipient of the Changjiang Scholarship. His research investigates the deep connections between quantum cryptography, quantum foundations, and quantum computing. The group’s broad research spectrum covers quantum key distribution, quantum random number generation, device-independent quantum information processing, multipartite entanglement, quantum resource theory, quantum benchmarking, and quantum networks.
Requirements
1. A PhD degree (obtained within the past three years or expected soon) in physics, mathematics, computer science, electronic engineering, or a closely related field. Applicants must be under 35 years of age.
2. A strong track record of high-quality publications in quantum information or related fields.
3. A demonstrated passion for scientific research and the ability to work independently and innovatively.
4. Excellent academic integrity, a collaborative spirit, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Research Areas
Research topics include, but are not limited to:
• Quantum Cryptography: Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), Quantum Random Number Generation (QRNG), quantum networks, quantum hacking, (semi-)self-testing, and device-independent quantum information processing.
• Quantum Computing: Calibration and benchmarking of quantum devices, algorithm applications, quantum error mitigation, and quantum error correction.
• Quantum Information: Fundamental theoretical studies on quantum coherence, entanglement, and resource theory.
Compensation and Benefits
• A highly competitive salary package.
• Provision of a postdoctoral apartment or housing subsidy, along with assistance for children’s kindergarten/school enrollment.
• Dedicated support for applying to national postdoctoral science funds, Tsinghua University’s prestigious “Shuimu Scholar” program, and other talent initiatives. (More details: http://postdoctor.tsinghua.edu.cn/)
