PhD Candidate Openings: Open Quantum Systems & Many-Body Physics
The Center for Theoretical Physics PAS (CTP PAS) in Warsaw is seeking
two Research Assistants / PhD Candidates (R1 Researchers) to join the
EUCENTRAL – Center for Quantum Technologies Modelling project.
The research will focus on many-body open quantum systems,
combining theoretical physics, numerical methods and computational modelling.
The successful candidates will contribute to the development of theoretical and
computational tools for quantum technologies.

We are looking for candidates with a Master’s degree in Physics or a related field.
Candidates who have not yet formally obtained the degree may also apply, provided they
submit documentation confirming the current stage of the degree-awarding process and
obtain the degree before the start of employment.
Candidates should have a strong background in
quantum statistical mechanics and many-body theory,
as well as programming skills and experience with numerical computations.
Experience with open quantum systems, including master equations
and/or quantum stochastic calculus, or alternatively with
quantum optimal control or quantum information theory, will be an advantage.
Familiarity with numerical tools for many-body quantum systems,
such as exact diagonalization or tensor networks, as well as experience with
version control and collaborative coding (GitHub), is also desirable.
The selected researchers will work on original research in
many-body open quantum systems, developing theoretical and computational tools,
participating in international conferences and schools, and contributing to the maintenance
of open-source code libraries.
