Our latest research, “In-Field Quantum-Protected Control-Based Key Distribution with a Lossy Urban Fiber Link,” represents a major step forward in quantum cryptography, proving that secure quantum communication can be deployed in real-world fiber networks.  🤝A landmark achievement in quantum-safe networking Until now, implementing Quantum Key Distribution (#QKD) in real-world fiber infrastructure has faced significant challenges due to high signal losses. Our research successfully demonstrates the first-ever in-field implementation of Quantum-Protected Control-Based Key Distribution (#QCKD)—an advanced protocol that overcomes these limitations by introducing a physical loss control mechanism. 👉The major achievements are as follows: • First real-world demonstration of #QCKD in an operational urban fiber network. • Robust performance even in high-loss fiber infrastructure, proving real-world viability. • Innovative loss control technique using optical time-domain reflectometry (#OTDR) and transmittometry, ensuring secure key distribution despite challenging conditions. • Achieved a high stable secret key rate which is a breakthrough result, demonstrating the practical deployment of quantum-secure encryption over existing fiber networks. 💭Wondering why this matters? The rise of quantum computing threatens traditional cryptographic methods, making it essential to develop future-proof security solutions. #QKD is a game-changer - it ensures security against even the most advanced adversaries by leveraging fundamental quantum properties, rather than computational complexity. Most importantly, our research proves that quantum cryptography can work in today’s urban fiber networks without requiring costly infrastructure overhauls. ♡This milestone was made possible thanks to the brilliant efforts of our CEO Markus Pflitsch, CTO Valerii Vinokur, Vladlen Statiev, Abdufattokh Ashurov, Vladimir Semenov, Dmitrii Kozliuk, Vladislav Zemlyanov, Aleksei Kodukhov, and Valeria Pastushenko.
