The predecessor of the School of Physics (College of Microelectronics) of Zhengzhou University is the former Department of Physics of Zhengzhou University, which was founded in 1956. Mr. Huo Bingquan, a pioneer in cosmic ray physics research in China, a famous physicist, and the former dean of the Department of Physics of Tsinghua University, was the first dean of the department. In May 2019, the college was renamed the School of Physics (Microelectronics College). The college has established teaching and research platforms such as the Key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education for Materials Physics, the National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for University Physics, the Henan Virtual Simulation Experimental Center, the Henan Key Laboratory for Diamond Optoelectronic Materials and Devices, the Henan International Joint Laboratory for Quantum Functional Materials, the Henan Modern NDT Engineering Technology Research Center, and the China Belarus Laser Technology Research Center. The majors in physics and electronic science and technology are among the top undergraduate majors in the country. In 2022, it was approved as the "National Popular Science Education Base".

The college currently has two first-class disciplines, namely physics, instrument science and technology, of which condensed matter physics is a national key discipline, and physics, nuclear science and technology, and instrument science and technology are key disciplines in Henan Province. Physics has the right to confer a doctoral degree in a first level discipline and a postdoctoral mobile station, while material physics and chemistry have the right to confer a doctoral degree in a second level discipline. The physics discipline ESI ranks in the top 1% of the world. The college has 1 innovation team from the Ministry of Education, 8 provincial innovation teams, and 1 "National Advanced Collective of Outstanding Professional and Technical Talents".

The college now has more than 230 faculty members, including 2 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 3 specially appointed (including chair) professors of Changjiang Scholars of the Ministry of Education, 3 winners of the The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 7 winners of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (including overseas), 2 young top talents of the "Ten Thousand Talents Plan" of the Central Organization Department, 2 members of the Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, and 6 specially appointed professors of Henan Province. 2、 Recruitment positions and requirements
