Scientist in Algorithm Development for Quantum Many-Body Theory and Computing at NPL (London, UK)
The National Physical Laboratory (NPL), the UK’s national metrology institute and a world-leading centre for measurement science and innovation, is hiring motivated researchers at multiple seniority levels to join our Quantum Software & Modelling team, contributing to NPL’s role in realising the UK’s Quantum Technologies missions.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge research in one or more of the following areas:
- Quantum and classical computing algorithms for materials science, chemistry, machine learning, and AI
- Machine learning and automation for quantum technologies
- Modelling open quantum systems and decoherence mechanisms
- Noise modelling and quantum error correction
You will collaborate with leading universities, industry partners, and experimental teams at NPL. We welcome applicants with backgrounds in computational physics, chemistry, mathematics, AI, data science, computer science, or quantum technologies, and expertise in one or more of these areas.
For informal enquiries about the openings please reach out to Ivan Rungger (ivan.rungger@npl.co.uk) and Yannic Rath (yannic.rath@npl.co.uk) directly.
We have multiple openings across different level of seniority, and we encourage early application as the closing date might be brought forward.
