The day-long event started at 10:00 AM to welcome a galaxy of distinguished speakers and eager attendees, setting the stage for a day rich in scientific discourse. A unique feature was the presence of school students, who would be the future quantum computing experts.
Chaired by Prof G D Sharma, the Inaugural Session saw Dr. Rattan Datta provide the opening remarks. He shared his experiences of bringing CRAY Supercomputer to India in the mid-1980s. Insights into the Indian National Quantum Mission were shared by Kartik Verma, and Mr. Kapil Murdia examined the implications of Quantum Disruption on the future of work. Mr Kartik Verma, a student at Basava International School in New Delhi, shared the details about Indian National Quantum Mission.
Subsequent sessions took deep dives into the quantum realm. Prof M M Pant presented an Overview of Quantum Technologies, and Prof PV Suresh explored the intersection of Quantum Artificial Intelligence with current tech trends. Dr. Ramesh C Sharma’s discourse on Quantum Biology revealed exciting intersections between quantum physics and biological systems.
The focus then shifted to developing a quantum-informed workforce, with Mr. Rahul Agarwal discussing the quantum readiness at the university stage, Dr. Bhavna Chibber addressing the preparation of school-aged children for a quantum future, and Dr. Sunil Kumar Pandey highlighting the importance of quantum knowledge for computer students. In this session, a group of school students shared their views about why they need to learn quantum computing beginning their school education.
