Critical quantum sensing is by now a well-established approach, based on the exploitation of the extreme sensitivity developed in proximity of phase transitions. Numerous theoretical studies and recent experimental demonstrations show that a quantum-enhanced sensing precision can be achieved by exploiting static or dynamical properties of quantum critical systems. In particular, driven-dissipative phase transitions emerge as an exciting framework for sensing applications, as they can be implemented with a large variety of small-scale, solid-state devices.
