PRESS RELEASE — BlueQubit Inc. (Los Angeles, CA) and Quantum Art Ltd. (Ness Ziona, Israel) have been awarded a grant from the Israel-U.S. Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation to develop and optimize quantum machine learning algorithms and quantum processor configuration methods.
The project is one of only six approved by the BIRD Foundation’s Board of Governors during their recent meeting in Washington D.C. With a budget of $2.2 million and a two-year timeline, this initiative stands out as a significant investment in quantum innovation and collaboration.
BlueQubit, a California-based quantum computing company specializing in quantum software simulations, will collaborate with Quantum Art, an Israeli company developing scalable quantum computers based on trapped ion qubits, to advance the field of quantum machine learning. Their joint effort aims to create innovative algorithms and optimize quantum processor configurations, potentially accelerating advancements in various industries including finance, pharma, image analysis, and security, that will be revolutionized by quantum computing capabilities.
Hrant Gharibyan, CEO of BlueQubit, commented on the grant: “This collaboration, supported by the BIRD Foundation, offers a unique opportunity to advance quantum machine learning through the synergy of software and hardware co-design. By aligning our quantum algorithms with Quantum Art’s scalable hardware, we can address some of the key challenges in the field and make quantum technology useful and accessible to Enterprise users.”
Tal David, CEO of Quantum Art, added: “Perhaps the biggest challenges in quantum computing today are in scaling up the technology and making the most of quantum algorithms for applications for wide commercial viability. This BIRD project tackles both challenges in a focused and synergetic program. The combination of BlueQubit’s unique quantum machine learning algorithms, tailored for maximum performance of Quantum Art’s innovative scale-up architecture, is a force multiplier, to drive both companies towards Quantum Advantage.
This U.S.-Israeli partnership exemplifies the BIRD Foundation’s mission to foster collaboration between companies from both countries, driving technological innovation and economic growth. The project’s focus on quantum computing aligns with the growing global interest in this transformative technology.
