PRESS RELEASE — Following the recent expansion of the Bluefors Lab in Delft, QuantrolOx – leaders in automating the bring-up, characterization, and tuning of quantum computers – will be the first to use the newly installed XLD1000sl Dilution Refrigerator.
QuantrolOx has previously used Bluefors Lab’s LD system to develop Quantum EDGE, their product that automates vital processes for quantum computers and reduces the time needed for fundamental experiments.
QuantrolOX Co-Founder, Vishal Chatrath, points out that quantum computers are extremely sensitive to the quality of the cryogenic environment, stating, “Bluefors Lab has consistently provided us with a high-quality environment, allowing us to speed up the development of Quantum EDGE and ensure the software works out of the box. Today, Quantum EDGE is the only software of its type to be developed and tested 24/7 on an actual quantum computer.”
For QuantrolOx, the lab has been instrumental from early product development to the launch of Quantum EDGE. Utilizing the LD400 system, they were able to test their software integration with the included measurement electronics and additional instruments that they brought in.
Chatrath explains that upgrading to the new XLD1000sl system will further enhance QuantrolOx’s software capabilities. “With the new system, QuantrolOx can now test its software with multiple electronics and various types of QPUs simultaneously. It also allows us to work with larger QPUs, enabling us to test new techniques and further improve our software’s performance.”
Access to a dedicated testing environment with an operational quantum computer is crucial for companies like QuantrolOx. Many startups lack the resources to set up and operate their own dilution refrigerators, and this is where the Bluefors Lab service offers significant advantages. Chatrath adds, “Having the Lab personnel available on site to help QuantrolOx make adjustments to the control electronics saves us a lot of time traveling to and from the Lab.”
QuantrolOx’s rapid development of Quantum EDGE in Delft demonstrates the value of Bluefors Lab for startups and organizations in quantum technology, facilitating quantum innovation. By providing the tools, measurement infrastructure, and expertise to carry out R&D on benchmark systems without needing to invest in purchasing them, the Lab enables teams to focus on results.
