PRESS RELEASE — Quantum technology leaders from research, industry, government and finance will gather at Palazzo Vecchio in Florence on April 1-2, 2027, for Quantum Renaissance, a two-day event examining the development and wider implications of quantum technology.
The event is organized by Resonance and The Quantum Insider in partnership with the Comune di Firenze. Programming will include conference keynotes and panel discussions and a public exhibition intended to make quantum science and technology accessible to residents, students and visitors, as well as a private gala dinner.
Held in Florence, the home to transformational figures including Leonardo da Vinci and connected to Galileo Galilei’s early astronomical work, Quantum Renaissance will place discussions about the next generation of computing, communications and sensing within a city closely associated with scientific and intellectual change.
The main conference will take place in the Salone dei Cinquecento, the historic hall inside Palazzo Vecchio, which serves as the seat of Florence’s city administration.
The first day, Thursday, April 1, will open with a public exhibition in the courtyards and Sala d’Armi of Palazzo Vecchio. The exhibition will feature quantum companies, Italian universities, research organizations and student projects presenting their work for a general audience.
That evening, invited guests will attend a welcome reception and gala dinner in the Salone dei Cinquecento. The dinner will bring together representatives from government, research institutions, quantum companies, investors and organizations supporting the development of the sector.
On Friday, April 2, the event will continue with a full day of keynotes, panel discussions and networking sessions. The planned program will examine scientific progress, commercialization, investment and public policy, including the development of Italy’s quantum sector and the emerging European policy framework.
The public exhibition will remain open throughout the second day, with access from Piazza della Signoria. Organizers also plan to livestream the opening keynote into the Sala d’Armi, allowing members of the public to follow part of the conference program.
The event comes as Italy develops its national approach to quantum technology and European policymakers consider measures intended to strengthen the region’s research, industrial capacity and technological independence. Florence and the surrounding Tuscany region are home to quantum research organizations including the European Laboratory for Non-Linear Spectroscopy, the National Institute of Optics and the Quantum Telecommunications Italy initiative.
