RIMS International Symposium “Mathematics of Quantum Information Science”
This workshop aims to provide a focused forum for developing and systematizing the mathematical foundations of quantum information science. In recent years, quantum information has not only driven applications such as quantum computation and communication, but has also brought new perspectives to fundamental questions in the mathematical sciences. Central notions of quantum correlations—most notably entanglement—call for essential extensions of classical frameworks in functional analysis and probability theory, and continue to generate new research directions across information theory, statistical mechanics, and mathematical physics.
Building on these developments, the meeting will bring together researchers from diverse backgrounds (mathematical physics, probability, information theory, and mathematical analysis) to discuss a broad range of mathematical problems related to quantum information science. Core topics include the quantification of entanglement, the structure of quantum channels, fundamental limits of information processing, as well as mathematical approaches to quantum statistical inference and quantum many-body systems. Through intensive talks and ample time for discussion over three days, we aim to deepen cross-disciplinary interactions, stimulate the development of new mathematical methods, and foster emerging interdisciplinary collaborations.
