PhD position developing solid-state quantum network components
The Quantum Network Group at the Institute of Applied Physics, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (https://www.aph.kit.edu/mueller/english/index.php) researches optically active semiconductor quantum dots and related semiconductor structures to enable functionality for long-distance quantum networks. We are looking for a motivated, experimentally inclined PhD student to complement our team.
You will be working on the characterization of the optical properties of semiconductor structures with telecom emission wavelengths, including conducting advanced quantum optics experiments to study single spins and their interactions with the solid-state environment. As part of your PhD, you are expected to support undergrads and Master students working on the project, and contribute to teaching by supervising tutorials or lab courses.
You should hold a Masters degree in Physics or a related subject, and lab experience in optical spectroscopy, cryogenics, or cleanroom work is an advantage.
