Postdoctoral Position in Quantum Thermodynamics, Quantum Control, Open Quantum Systems, and Quantum Technologies
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the research group of Prof. Amikam Levy at the Department of Chemistry, Bar-Ilan University.
The research will focus on theoretical aspects of quantum dynamics and quantum technologies, with possible directions including quantum thermodynamics, open quantum systems, quantum control, quantum information, and the dynamics of noisy quantum devices. Projects may involve the study of nonequilibrium quantum systems, control protocols for suppressing or exploiting noise, thermodynamic properties of quantum processes, and the role of quantum coherence, correlations, and measurement in complex quantum dynamics.
The position is suitable for a highly motivated researcher interested in developing analytical and numerical tools for studying quantum systems. Depending on the candidate’s interests and background, the research may connect to several topics studied in the group, including:
- Quantum thermodynamics
- Open quantum systems
- Quantum control
- Quantum information theory
- Quantum technologies and noisy quantum devices
- Shortcuts to adiabaticity and dynamical invariants
- Noise spectroscopy and quantum sensing
- Quantum trajectories and quasiprobability distributions
- Nonequilibrium quantum dynamics
Requirements
Applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a PhD in physics, chemistry, applied mathematics, or a related field. A strong background in quantum mechanics is required. Experience with one or more of the research topics listed above would be an advantage.
The successful candidate should be independent, creative, and motivated to work on theoretical research at the interface of physics, chemistry, and quantum technologies. Strong analytical skills and experience with numerical simulations are highly desirable. Programming experience, for example in Python, Mathematica, MATLAB, or similar tools, will be an advantage.
Application
Applications should include:
- A CV, including a list of publications
- A short statement describing research interests and relevant background
- The names and contact details of three recommenders
Interested candidates are encouraged to contact Prof. Amikam Levy with the application materials and a brief description of their research interests.
