The project, funded by a Wallenberg Academy Fellowship, will trap cold strontium atoms near silicon nitride photonic waveguides to explore new regimes of light-matter coupling. The platform combines the long coherence of strontium transitions with the strong atom-light interactions enabled by nanophotonics. Research directions include entanglement-enhanced atomic sensors, superradiant lasing, and quantum simulation.
The work is mainly experimental: the student will build the apparatus from the ground up, with laser cooling and trapping, optics, and precision spectroscopy as central techniques.
The position is fully funded for four years. Application deadline: 15 August 2026.
