PhD position in quantum information theory at Télécom Paris
Overview
We’re recruiting a PhD to begin around October 2026 (starting date is flexible). The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Peter Brown and will join the rapidly growing Inria team Quriosity, located at Télécom Paris, Institut Polytechnique de Paris. Quriosity specializes in the theory of quantum information with currectly 7 permanent members whose research spans topics such as: quantum computing, quantum cryptography, quantum foundations and quantum learning.
The position will be funded by the ANR JCJC grant ODIC and the candidate will be expected to contribute to work related to the central project of ODIC. This is largely focused on the development of new information theoretic and convex optimization tools to solve important problems in quantum cryptography. Some representative papers of the direction of this work include:
– Device-independent lower bounds on the conditional von Neumann entropy
– Entropy accumulation
– Semidefinite programming relaxations for quantum correlations
Candidate profile
The successful candidate must hold a Masters degree in mathematics, computer science or physics (or a related subject) before starting the position. Familiarity with topics such as quantum information, quantum cryptography and convex optimization are welcome bonuses but not required.
Application procedure
Applicants should send the following required documents to Peter Brown at the email [firstname].[lastname]@telecom-paris.fr
- CV
- Letter of motivation
- Transcripts
- Contact details of 2 referees
Note applications will begin to be reviewed from 1st May and applications submitted after this date will still be considered if the position remains open.
