Postdoctoral and PhD Positions in Quantum Computing supported by ERC Consolidator Grant BeyondDFT
Applications are invited from outstanding and highly motivated PhD students and postdoctoral researchers with a strong background in quantum computing, quantum algorithms, or quantum complexity theory.
The positions are related to the ERC Consolidator Grant-funded research programme BeyondDFT. The Schilling group is expected to relocate to the University of Geneva on 1 September 2026.
Our quantum computing research aims to develop more efficient quantum algorithms for determining ground and excited states of interacting many-body quantum systems. The programme addresses foundational and mathematically challenging questions, with a particular focus on identifying universal structural features of realistic many-electron wave functions (for example cusp conditions and correlation structure) and translating them into improved quantum state preparation schemes and circuit complexity bounds. The approach is exploratory, concept-driven, and rooted in rigorous many-body theory.
Application deadline: 15 March 2026
Start date: Flexible, ideally 1 September 2026
