Postdoctoral Position in Theoretical Physics at University of Helsinki
The research group Quantum Fields, Gravity and Information (QFGI), based at the University of Helsinki’s Kumpula campus, invites applications for a postdoctoral position in quantum information / theoretical physics. The position is funded by a Research Council of Finland grant and will begin on September 1, 2026 and is meant to strengthen interaction between the QFGI and the quantum science HelTeq groups at Kumpula.
About the Position:
The initial appointment is for two years, with a possibility of extension to a third year based on performance and mutual interest.
The successful candidate will:
+ Collaborate with members of the QFGI and HelTeq groups, including PhD students.
+ Conduct independent research in theoretical physics.
+ Contribute to ongoing research at the interface of quantum field theory, quantum gravity, and quantum information.
We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong background in quantum information and those who can actively engage with and mentor PhD students. Preference will be given to applicants who already have postdoctoral experience or a demonstrated ability to work independently.
The senior members of the QFGI group are Esko Keski-Vakkuri and Niko Jokela, and we are expanding our collaboration with Zoltán Zimborás, newly appointed professor of quantum algorithms at HelTeq group.
