PRESS RELEASE — SDT Inc., a leading full-stack quantum computing company headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, has partnered with the Malaysian Institute of Microelectronic Systems (MIMOS) subsidiary, MIMOS Technology Solutions Sdn Bhd, to establish Malaysia’s first-ever Quantum Computing Centre.
SDT in a statement said with a long-standing track record in quantum technology, SDT Inc. is a trusted name in the industry.
“For years, SDT has provided quantum computing cloud services and frameworks within South Korea, contributing to the nation’s technological ecosystem.
“SDT Inc. possesses unique intellectual property and manufacturing expertise in ultra-precision electronics, enabling it to develop cutting-edge quantum computing solutions renowned for their reliability and performance,” it said.
SDT Inc. also highlighted its advanced capabilities in quantum communication, ensuring secure and efficient connections between quantum computing centres and other mission-critical sites.
“These strengths make SDT an ideal partner for Malaysia as the country takes its first steps toward establishing a competitive presence in the quantum field,” the statement read.
With Malaysia’s first quantum computing centre to be established, experts stress the need for a coordinated national strategy and dedicated oversight to fully realise the technology’s transformative potential.
According to the statement, a collaborative approach involving key agencies, including the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA), Malaysian Quantum Initiative (MyQI), the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and the Ministry of Defence (MOD), will be essential to ensure quantum computing’s successful integration into industries such as cybersecurity, healthcare and finance, positioning Malaysia as a regional tech leader.
MIMOS, under MOSTI, is at the forefront of this initiative, driving innovation as Malaysia’s national R&D centre.
Its subsidiary, MIMOS Technology Solutions Sdn Bhd (MTSSB), plays a key role in securing industry projects that leverage MIMOS’ advanced technologies.
“In partnership with SDT Inc, MTSSB will help build a solid foundation for Malaysia’s quantum ambitions, connecting MIMOS’ expertise with industry to establish Malaysia as a quantum-enabled nation, primed for future growth and technological leadership,” it said.
